kim faires photography + stuff
Wherein I (sometimes) post one or more photos I’ve taken, and write about ‘em. And that’s it. No biggie. Just a pixel-fix on my part. Each and every (occasional) Friday.
This is what I have learned.
It doesn’t matter what your strengths are, if you can’t overcome the challenges that stand in the way of you making use of them.
Personally, I have trouble finding focus. I have many ideas and many plans, but often struggle to implement them because of a lack of focus. And this frustrates me to no end.
But you know what? I am here. And I am well.
And in this world, these days, that is really quite something.
So I am taking part in The Ride to Conquer Cancer this year and, once again, I am faced with the challenge to focus.
I have never done anything like this in my life.
I have never ridden 200 kilometers on my bike over two days straight. I’ve never actually had to train for something. Never had to set out an exercise schedule and eating regimen in preparation for a two-day bike trek over 200 kilometers.
But there is a first time for everything.
And I am going to do this thing.
For me, for my friends, for all who struggle with this and other diseases.
For all who struggle with being human, really. As I do.
I will find the focus to do this thing, to help others.
Because I can.
And because this is what life is about: facing challenge.
And it is, in the end, what defines us.
Thanks for reading.
P. S. If you would like to help me out on this journey, then please donate to my campaign–whatever amount, however small–so that we can make a difference together, somehow, somewhere. Visit my Ride to Conquer Cancer personal page for more information, or to donate online, or by mail.
And thank you.
